Castle Park Apartments
Missouri
Construction of the Castle Park building began in 1871 and was completed in 1892. Castle Park was originally built to house a mental hospital run by Catholic nuns. Castle Park has 6 floors and 4 underground tunnels and several towers which give it the appearance of a medieval castle. The building still has the original marbles floors that were shipped from Italy, original tile slate roofs from France and some of the original lighting fixtures as well. Over the years, the building has been used as a Catholic hospital and an orphanage. In 1982, the property was sold and converted to apartments.
